Hospitality has a long tradition in the most beautiful part of Dresden. The "Münzgasse", a well-known laneway of pubs and restaurants, begins in the middle of Dresden’s Old Town, just a stone’s throw from the world-famous Frauenkirche, and ends right at the Balcony of Europe, Brühl’s Terrace.
At this historic site, the rustic inn called the “Kutscherschänke” is perfect for spending a few hours relaxing and enjoying yourself. The restaurant formerly located here, “Kleppereck”, has been lovingly renovated and completely redesigned. Old restored woodwork, historic ovens, timber framework and wooden floor boards conjure up homely atmosphere in the lounges. This restaurant, situated right next to the 16th-century stables, has been extremely popular ever since its establishment – the Saxon kings threw lavish parties, and wagoners, coachmen and stablemen all stopped for a bite to eat at the restaurant in the Münzgasse. With typical, traditional horse-and-carriage accessories, the furnishings at the Kutscherschänke are today still reminiscent of these historic eras of hospitality. Enjoy home-made specialities of fresh German cuisine, as well as traditional, hearty meals.
